About The Artwork
I spent my days in Norway at Evan’s house. He had come to pick me up in his car when I was about to freeze at a deserted train station. He bought me food because I had no money. He later introduced Oslo. He is a traveler and photographer. He was one of the most cultured people I’ve ever met. He took me to a high hill from where I could see all of Oslo. He always wore a hat. He was straightening his hat while telling me about the city. I immortalized this moment by photographing it. Evan was a solitary man of about fifty. I felt that the reason for his interest in me was loneliness. This photo symbolizes loneliness for me. When I looked at Evan, I felt like I was looking at an Edward Munch painting. The cold and dark air of the city, the loneliness and depressiveness of the city seemed to have permeated Evan’s soul.
